Hartford Hospital’s Food4Health program brightened Thanksgiving tables with turkey, chicken and fresh vegetables for almost 50 patients and colleagues.
Continued uncertainty around federally funded food programs provided an opportunity for Food4Health to help even more, giving Thanksgiving supplies in addition to its regular distribution.
Thank you to so many who contributed food or made financial donations. A Hartford Hospital Auxiliary drive, led by Lori Flaks, netted about 500 healthy food items valued at more than $2,000. Attendees at the annual Hartford Hospital corporators meeting also brought about 300 more donations.
“These items allowed us to fill our shelves for our expected customers and bags for the additional Thanksgiving distribution,” said Jackie Leon, Food4Health manager.
A similar distribution is planned this month.
