Hartford HealthCare Deepens Role in Manchester Road Race
December 11, 2025
Hartford HealthCare is deepening its commitment to one of Connecticut’s most celebrated Thanksgiving traditions, following its active participation in the 89th annual Manchester Road Race and the announcement of a new three-year agreement to become the event’s principal sponsor beginning in 2026.
The sponsorship comes at a pivotal moment as HHC expands its presence in the region with plans to acquire Manchester Memorial and Rockville General hospitals. Starting with the 90th running in 2026, the race will officially include “sponsored by Hartford HealthCare” in its title.
A partnership shaped by long-term community investment
For race organizers, the multi-year sponsorship is a significant milestone, providing financial stability and relieving the annual cycle of renegotiating sponsor commitments.
“Having a guaranteed three-year sponsorship means we can focus on the mission and traditions of this race while ensuring stability for years to come,” said Tris Carta, president of the Manchester Road Race Committee. Carta emphasized that the agreement allows organizers to expand media and promotional efforts on behalf of all sponsors.
Jeffrey Cohen, executive vice president and COO of Hartford HealthCare, said the partnership is rooted in supporting one of the state’s most iconic events while empowering the committee to guide its future.
HHC’s active role in the 2025 race
The 2025 Thanksgiving race once again drew thousands of runners, and HHC colleagues played a visible and meaningful role throughout the event.
More than 30 HHC team members participated in the race itself, joining the crowds along the storied 4.7-mile course. Beyond running, HHC provided hands-on support through a dedicated warm-up tent staffed by physical therapists and Rehab Network specialists who assisted more than 85 athletes with stretching before and after the race.
The HHC Running Club also volunteered at the traditional pre-race spaghetti dinner, helping serve meals and connect with local families and long-time race participants.
In alignment with the race committee’s focus on combating food insecurity, HHC supported a collection of non-perishable items at Manchester High School, benefiting MACC Charities’ emergency food pantry.
